Patrick "Pat" Cabell Massie, b. August 27, 1862 in the family mansion of "Three Springs" near Massie Mills, Nelson County, Va.. School of Law. m. August 17, 1893, Elizabeth McCullough Kirkman. Died on November 13th, 1904 in Montgomery, Alabama. He occupied room number 3 at Monroe Hill.
Brig Gen Jefferson Randolph Kean. b. June 26, 1860 in Lynchburg, Va. Died in DC on September 4, 1950. The son of Robert Garlick Hill Kean, and a colleague of Walter Reed. As descendant from Thomas Jefferson (his mother was Jane Nicholas Randolph, a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Randolph) he was buried at Monticello where I’m planning to visit his grave soon to film. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War, and extraordinary man! His life is extraordinary. He occupied room number 2 at Monroe Hill. From his memories, now at the National Library of Medicine:
"In 1879 I was sent to the University of Va. where being still rather immature I lived the first year in the family of the distinguished dean of the law school, Dr. John B. Minor, a grand old man of forceful and, I thought, rather puritanical turn of mind. I called him cousin, but the relationship was rather a friendship between our families extending through several generations than any actual kinship. During this year one of the law students who called frequently at the house was Woodrow Wilson, afterwards President of the United States. He was a mature man and even at that time much looked up to for his oratorical accomplishments."
